From October 24th to 28th, there were many people who look very different in Jeju. Students from China, Iraq, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Russia, Taiwan, U.S.A, and Vietnam came to the island for 'Jeju Youth Forum 2013'. This forum for high school students was held to make students into global leaders. Students from nine countries spent five days in Jeju learning the cultures of other countries, and visiting many of the island’s most popular places.

One Chinese and one Iraqi student studied up on Korean language and culture through K-Dramas and K-Pop they had seen and heard back home and while in Jeju, making for a more enjoyable and nearly seamless experience.

"I learned about Korean culture like how to say ‘An nyiyoung haseyo (which means ‘hello’, ¾È³çÇϼ¼¿ä in Korean), and the drama ‘Seoul City’ after I came here,” said Farah Hussooin from Baghdad, Iraq. “I saw the show because my friend told me about it. I was worried that I would make mistakes, but the Koreans understood me, and I did not make mistakes. I enjoy this forum because I can learn teamwork."

"I enjoy this forum,” said Nan, a student from China. “I came here to get to know Korean culture, and communicate with other students. I am interested in Koreans star like ‘Exo’ and ‘Girl's Generation’. I don’t think my hometown has any serious problems. I made many friends in Jeju. My friends were good, so I don't have culture problems. I made 'Onggi (Jeju traditional pottary, ¿Ë±â in Korean)’, and saw Nanta -- it was so interesting!"
